Update!
Wednesday
20090715
- Work is essentially complete in Rm 3.
I am working to restore the instruments as quickly
as possible:
- JEOL
TEM is almost operational. The annual Preventive Maintenance
service is scheduled for a couple
of days next week (Monday and Tuesday).
- JEOL
SEM is now pumping down.
JEOL has been called to resume the work to erradicate the mysterious
fields. Service should be
here next week. The SEM could be
used for low mag work, but it is not good above a few thousand x.
- The
NikonE600/Spot system is back to Rm 3 and is fully operational.
- The
Ultracut ultramicrotome has been set up.
- Zeiss510
Meta confocal is back in operation.
Rm1 facilities are generally available but that will soon change when
they start work here next week. The chem hood is not to be used; the
work on the ducts caused unpredictable loss of draft frequently so it
is off limits. Work in Rm1 is anticipated to last
about 3 weeks, so at this point we hope to be fully operational again
by the end of July......
The plan is
to work on Rm3 first, then Rm1. Projected
total duration: 1 month total. This may be optimistic..... Updates
will be posted here from time to time....
PLEASE PLAN
AHEAD! We
hate to have you disappointed. We live by our
schedules and can rarely help walk-ins. Please call or email for
appointments and allow
sufficient
lead-time for us to get your project on the stack.
